need your opinion

I have a black 95 Trans Am and it has disscolored front and rear bumpers. And the front bumper has some damage to it. An uncle of a friend of mine told me he would fix the damage on the front bumper and repaint and blend in the front and the rear. He also included a color sanding of the entire car and a nice clear coat to apply after he is done with that. Oh I also have a really deep scratch on the passenger side rear quarter panel that he said he would paint over. all this for 900$..

So what do you guys think?

Is this a reasonable offer. Or am I getting my sweetbreads cooked?

And if it is reasonable, what kind of clearcoat would you guys recommend?

The price is what I'd expect to pay at a legit shop that does fantastic work and has a solid reputation for quality.

Personally, I am very hesitant to entertain "buddy deals" out of someone's garage. It can get messy for everyone involved and lead to some sour feelings if the work is not up to your standards.

I have a hard enough time getting a shop I TRUST to do a good job to get the job done on time..... for the same money, I don't even want to THINK about having to rely on someones uncle to keep their word!

Best of luck to you,

Teek

The guy works for a reputable body and paint shop. He does his side jobs after work at work. They have a great reputation and do most of the custom car paint jobs in there county. From what I hear, they have a waiting list a mile long.
I got a quote from my local body shop down the street and they quoted me 1000$ just for the front bumper. But, they are an insurance body shop and don't fix anything they can just replace. But what I really wanted from you guys was an average. Here in California things get kind of pricey sometimes and I just wanted to hear and see differences of work of the same nature.

Thanks for all the replys

Are there anymore opinions out there, please let me know, and what kind of clearcoat should I get, something like a titanium blue.. what do you think of that clear on a black car.
