Need some help fast!

My math professor (which is my worst subject) just hit his house-mates car. The car is a 1993 Ford Ranger shortbed, with a V6. He hit the driverside panel, the one before the door (its on the side of the hood). First does anyone know the name of that panel and second can anyone recommend a good place to get that panel used? Any suggestions would be of great help, I know those panels aren't had to replace, i've done it before on my cousins '88 Camaro. Maybe he can put the panel on himself (or i'll do it) and just have a bodyshop paint it. I told him if anyone knew what to do it would be the guys on camaroz28.com.

thanks,
Mark

I would say it could easily be replaced and plus you say you've already done one before. Oh....and DirtyDan is right....the panel you speak of is indeed a fender.

I would start at the local salvage yards and I'll bet you'll find one. Maybe even a fender of same color....then you can skip the below.

.....once you have the fender you can do one of two things, and IMO one looks good and the other will look better. First method is just take the fender down to a body shop and have it painted to best match color of vehicle......or you can take the fender down to a body shop with the vehicle and the fender will have to be painted on the inside first, then fender can be installed and they paint the outside by blending the new fender into the existing door, hood, etc.....

One just costs more than the other and in turn looks better than the other. Cory
