Question Need new hood

My dad and I just recently purchased a 94 Z28, and we are wanting to put a new SS type hood on it. So I thought I'd ask you guys/girls what manufacturer has the best quality hoods available? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Re: Need new hood

A search of previous posts as well as visiting some of the website off the Supporting Vendor Index will give you alot of options. Harwood, SLP, VPN,and Suncoast Creations all make the SS style hoods.

Re: Need new hood

Do you have a custom hood on your Camaro? If so, who made it and did it match up well? Thanks again.

Re: Need new hood

I have a 1995 Formula with a Harwood Ram Air style. The fit and finish is great. There was no need to trim anything, it just fell into place and lined up great. I've had it on the car since 1996 and just recently discovered a tiny crack near one of the nostrils...No big deal to fix. It was $400 new, although I think the prices have gone up a little. My hood is lighter than some others, but still uses the factory hardware and has a "show" finish underside. I would check to see if they make the SS style...

Re: Need new hood

So Harwood has good quality hoods? Two people have told my dad before hand that they had bought harwood hoods, and said they were junk. Anyone else have Harwood manufactured fiberglass hoods? If so, please help! I need all the info I can get. And if Harwood isn't what you have on your camaro, what kind do you have? Thanks

Re: Need new hood

I have an ASCD SS Style hood on my 1995 Z28. The hood is made well but still needed some minor smoothing by my body/paint shop to make it look right. You'll probably end up spending at least $1,000 to buy the hood, get it shipped to you and body/paint work.

Well no doubt the best quality hood would be a GM hood. Your gonna pay for it though!

SLP made all GMs LT1 ramair SS hoods.
I dont think SLP will sell SS hoods without proof of ownership of a real SS.

SLP also makes a "Ultra-Z" hood. See my sig pic.

Re: Need new hood

Go with an American Sports Car Design, they make excellent hoods, mine came very nice, and they are functional and come with the grill.

gmrestorationparts.com has both the hood and spoiler I believe. As far as SLP's OEM stuff goes, I dont think its worth paying 2-3x what the aftermarket ones cost.
