Is the plastic screen for the SLP LT1 SS hood the same part number as the 98+ SLP SS screen?

Just check ebay, you'll hopefully find the OEM one eventually.

 

Thxs for the replys. Their is one on eBay for a 98+ but not a 96/97. Mine has to come off for paint and it "feels" like the tabs will break off trying to remove it.

 

Be REALLY careful and you should be able to get it off. The 98+ vents will not work though.

Also, be careful if you order the RKsport ones. They say right on their website that they are only for their hoods. Also, I know this because EmblemPros makes a stainless overlay for the vents and I asked them if it would fit on my aftermarket hood/vent - they said most likely not as the vents are different compared to a stock SS hood.

 

Like said, you should be able to get it off if you are careful. However if you do break a tab. You can get it to stay if you clean the edges and aply a small bead of black RTV around the hole before replacing the screen.

I removed the "screen" part from inside the black plastic edge so I would have just an open hole but with a factory looking edge. Even though the tabs were still on the edge piece there was no tension to hold it in place. I use some RTV, and haven't had to touch it in years.
