need help fast with needles

I was in a hurry last night and like a dumb a**I removed my needles on my gagues without marking them when I was putting on my white face and now I dont think Im close. I know the tach is ok because the car idles at 900. I think the speed is ok too because I cruise in at 80 at 2500 rpm (if that is different let me know I have a 97 Z)
So if someone can help me out and let me know where the needles go please chime in. Maybe turn the switch on (with engine off) and let me know where the needles begin that should help me out. Thanks Travis

dude...every car is different. Let's do it like this....Go fill up your gas tank all the way....Then take your car home. Let it sit a long long time. That way, you'll have your beginning eng temp. Now, turn the key to on(not crank the car...just on).....look at your fuel guage...it should read full. if it doesn't...see how far you need to move it so it says full. Turn car iginition key to off. NOW move the needle. Then start car...see if that did it. if not...keep working at it till you do. Next, if the oil pressure...it should have a peg or something...but otherwise, just set it to 0 when the car is off...because...well...you do have 0 oil pressure at that point! Engine temp...set it on the lowest number or peg...that should just about do that. Tach should be @ 0....all those when the car is off. All you can do at this point is trial and error to set the right values....good luck!

I done that last night with the fuel gauge I think it is ok. Im just worried about the speedo and temp. Oil pressure can be off a little. I dont mind that. I guess Im just gonna have to wait on a scannet when I get the funds. I got to close on a house soon so no more spending til then. I guess I play around with it til I fill comfort. But if anyone else has a idea please chime in.

Um...I just gave you an idea. You can have it pretty darn near close to where it should be if you'll do what I told ya.

Oh your speedo...the best thing is to have it close...then...go find one of those "speed trailers" that your local cops put out to tell people how fast they are going....that should get you right on track to where you need to be.

Geez....going to buy a scanner just to figure out where to put needles....GEEZ!

enjoy

I assumed the speedo was self calibrating (could be wrong though)...

That or get a friend to cruise w/ you on the road and set his cruise to 35 or 60 or whatever. you set your cruise to the same, if yall are going the same speed, you're good to go. If not, pull over and make a small adjustment. Keep the Speedo covering off so your needles are exposed so you can recalibrate without having to disassemble over and over again. Rinse and repeat till you got it right. And/or do the above w/ the stationary "Your Speed" signs.

Definitely. I hadn't even thought of that one...I guess that's because I'm not used to having a vehicle with an accurate speedo! When I put big tires on my jeep...it changed the accuracy by nearly 7 mph... Oh well...it gives me an excuse when I get pulled over! heeheehee
