My poor baby

My poor baby
So, about three weeks ago, our huge silver maple scraped the house (tearing up siding & punching a hole in the roof) smashed my garage...with the camaro in it
Luckily, I have good insurance. After much hard & dangerous work to save my baby she came out of with a few bumps & scratches. But, it could have been MUCH worse.....
Now she is in the process of being restored...the body is being restored at least.
It pains me to see her all torn up, but she is basically having the all body imperfections & paint redone, so I cannot complain too much. I cannot wait to see the finished product. Wish me luck!!

Just talked to the shop & apparently getting the fender is the big hold up. He actually said, it was a good thing it wasn't the driver's side fender, as those have been discontinued. Anyways, I hope to have her back soon.

Re: My poor baby
If you want to make sure they don't put an aftermarket fender on it, look at the top area where the bolts go in. If the spaces have a beveled oval shape around them, the fender is aftermarket. If it just has circles where the bolts go, it's OEM.
Pretty much everything is discontinued technically, but rear bumpers and passenger side fenders are still available!

He said he made sure to order OEM, which is why it is taking so long. I just got back from seeing it & he was telling me everything they did for it. I had a bit of rust starting & they cleaned that all up, fixed a few "stress marks" on the bumpers, & a few other things that were already messed up. I think I am going to be pretty happy. i told him to just make sure to swap out the 3.8 for a 5.7 & that'd be about perfect.

Re: My poor baby
So, I didn't get the call until today. I get to pick up the Camaro at 5:30 tonight!! As they were finishing up, they found some rust starting on the rockers & fixed that for me & that held them up a few days. They also painted my sail panel on the passenger side too. All told, they replaced the front pass. fender, painted the whole car, went through & fixed any & all rust spots, & pulled & straightened all dings & dents. Should be like a brand new car, on the outside anyways. Man, I am SUPER stoked to get her back (she has been out of commission since 4/30). Pictures to follow later tonight or first thing tomorrow.
