My Autometer tach is too bright!
My Autometer tach is too bright!
Like the subject says, my tach is insanely bright at night. It is a Phantom series with a shift light. I have to have my dimmer set almost to the bottom. Is there an easy way to attach another dimmer to just the tach to adjust it's brightness independantly? Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

I know what you mean about being to bright. Your dash lights should be red, which the tach is not. What I did is get red nail polish but 2 coats on the light blub. Let them dry between coats and this will almost make it look like the factory dash lights.

As for removing it, twist the black holder. It will feel hard at first then wiggle it out, and that should do it. I would show some pixs of the lights on, but i'm on vacation away from the TA.

Go to radio shack and tell them you need a potentiometer to use as a light dimmer. Thats all you need. A potentiometer is a variable resistor. (example: volume ***, lights dimmer switch, ect.) Thats all you need to do.
