Modifiying A4 console for M6 conversion

Ok, I've converted my car over to a 6spd and still have not gotten a new console. To be quite honest, I'm not all that impressed with any of the factory consoles, b/c imo, the shifter boot is too big.

So, I was wanting to modify the stock A4 console insert and get a custom shift boot keeping it as small as possible(think C5)

What sort of materials would I need for shaping and forming plastic...?

I was sorta inspired by JackZ28's !cupholder mod

TIA

I think you'll be sick if you hear how much I've payed so far My dad totalled a 93 M6 Z28 and bought it back from insurance, so I got everything I needed for free. Add in about $75 for fluid, a pilot bearing, tools and a jack rental and thats all I've spent....

Several F-body salvage yards sell the "kit" included with basically everything you need for $1500. You'll most likely want a new clutch...so that could run you anywhere from $200-1100...just depends on your mods and goals...

alex's site lists everything you need. I used his site as a guide and I've got to say that if he hadn't put that page up, I would never have attempted it.

It looks like a lot of work when you first read that page, but IMO, it was a very easy conversion. If you have a set of jackstands, a basic set of handtools, a drill, and a friend, then this is a very doable project in two days. IMO, the hardest part was getting all of the automatic crap outta there.

Shoot me an email if you have any other questions...
