Making your own overlays...instructions?

I bought a set of MacEwens, but I thought of playing around with making my own overlays for something else.

Did the original instructions on how to make them get deleted? I need the info, what paper to buy, the whole schmear.

Anyone have it archived? The links on Brent Franker's site are down, too.

This is all I remember from the post
1) scan your Hvac (or whatever) into your computer

2) Use photoshop to color them or add flames or make white etc..

3)Print out on photo paper (make sure it is sized corectly)
make sure when you set it up to print its horizontal so you dont
cut any edges off

Cut it out and laminate if desired and that should be it?

I didn't save the data on those links either

I have found that not everyone keeps their web pages active for years and years like I do I'm going to start downloading pages to my hard drive and when the original pages go down, upload the back-ups to my own server. Lesson learned I suppose

So you don't use any special transparent paper, you just cut holes where you want the light and/or display to show through?

I didn't cut where the light comes through. Just where the ***** go. I did put a colored piece of transparency film behind the overlays though.

Well, here is the thing I probably should have made clear...this is not for any part of the car but something else.

Just a custom job I wanted to try to see how it turned out.

So, if I have a spot where light needs to shine through, just cut a hole, and use transparency film and it is good to go?

Damn...I wish those complete instructions were still around so I wouldn't have to ask so many questions.

Did some digging and found an archived version of the one of the Links Brent had on his site. Doesn't have too much info on actually making them, but better save it while you can anyway!

EDIT:

Just found an archived copy fo the other one! Better save that one too!!

I had to edit this a few times, the link didn't come through on the board properly for some reason.

Did you get both of them? I posted one and then edited my post to show the other. Just making sure you didn't see my post before I added the second one.
