LT1 Ram Air Hoods

Im looking for a LT1 body style ram air hood. I have found many manufactors, but all want too much money. Does anybody know where some are for 500? I see a lot for 600, but shipping is another 100.

Take the money and buy a cam.

Hoods arent cheap. Expecially when you have to get them shipped and then painted!

I bought mine on ebay. Brand new for $540 including shipping. It was functional. unfortunately, they told me they were gonna quit selling them on there, because they were making no money. You can get non-functional on ebay for $399 last I checked. If you want functional be willing to spend $600 for a suncoast creations. Painting is whats gonna cost you. In my opinion its totally worth it. I don't regret the $700+ it costs. My car gets more looks than ever. Good luck, hope u find what u want. Thanks, Michael just my $.02

A Ram air hood that is not functional....is that just because it is sealed off on the front or its not set up on the bottom? I dont plan on hooking up the ram air box, but I wish to have the cutout to get fresh air in. I do not want to get rid of my K&N FIPK. Can anybody help me out here?

Harwood sells a Ultra-Z style hood. It looks pretty cool, but it's not an SS hood.

Summit sells it for about $440

www.summitracing.com

Harwood may have an SS style, you should call and ask.

I already have some price estimates for preping and painting the hood, Im expecting to drop 700 for it as is. I have painted 2 cars before, I can do the preping to cut the price. Im willing and Im ready.

Does anybody wanna sell their hood, any kind? Let me know if you are.

i have a WS6 type add on hood scoop...it has the big nostrils like the regular hoods have but its just an add on to your hood. Its hand layered laminate. I bought it last year for my 80 firebird but i sold the car. email me if interested in buying it at: wolfz24@attbi.com if you want me to send a picture of it.
thanks
Todd

You wont hear this said often. Ram Air kicks ***. I have had a moroso cold air and I know have functional ram air. Which one do I like more? Ram Air. Not quite as much power off the line, but way more top-end. I can spank the ls1 off the line, but most of the time they would catch me at around 100 or so. Not anymore. I would tell you to get a functional from suncoast. And try to buy a used ram air box for cheap. Try them both out. You would have no problem selling either one depending on which one u liked the best. Someone sells suncoast of ebay for $550+shipping. Thats pretty good. Here is the link to the non-functional hood. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...&category=6766

The GM Ram Air setup is marginal from the factory. It doesn't start kicking *** until you cut out the rain baffle in the hood. With the baffles cut out and Fred's infamous Fernco bellow mod, you have a straight shot deal that should outperform any CAI.

treyz28 why the weird faces? I know we are not supposed to put ebay links on here, but I only did it to help him out on pricing. That mod you are talking about on the hood and elbow I have done. I bought the slp 1Le elbow and I took that rain delfector out. Its works badass. IMO way better than a cai. Thanks, Michael
