LT-1 shaker hood

Does anybody know of a well fitting, quality shaker hood and intake that can be fit to a 1996 Camaro SS? Websites, phone numbers, catalog info etc. would be great. Thanks.

Yeah! That's a Suncoast Creations hood. They might make it for the Camaro's too. The air intake design is basically identical to what SLP uses on the SS hoods. Which isn't a good design to get cold air into the engine. Having the air intake towards the front of the hood is the best design for these cars.

www.suncoastcreations.com has some nice Ram Air hoods. I have the Z style Ram Air and it looks great and the performance is suprising. However, it is not a shaker. I did a lot of research on these before i perchased mine and Suncoast has the only functional hookup that comes with everything you need. I got hit in the front so I bought the hood and had it mounted but I did all the pluming. If you have a hit of mechanical ability it is very simple. I absolutally reccomend it.

Re: LT-1 shaker hood

If you have an SS you should leave the SS hood on there as it is one of the best looking Fbody hoods available. I think if you want a shaker or something you should just make your own. Get a stock hood and go to a salvage yard and but a TA scoop and them just make your own mounting brackets to set it on the intake. It wouldn't be that hard. The Mustang type shaker would be tough because the shaker really needs a flat hood to work. That is why the new Mach1's have that flat spot cast into the hood.

A word to the wise: NEVE BUY A SUNCOAST HOOD I have about 2k worth of work in my paint job using harlequin Flames and the Suncoast hood has cracked apart!!!! My brother has been a body tech for over 15 years and he said it was the worst piece of fiberglass he'd ever seen, waavy and cracked

Just FYI

While my suncoast hood didnt crack, it took them 4 weeks to get it here which is rediculous, it's extremely wavy, and it didnt fit right.

Re: LT-1 shaker hood

If you guys could give an idea of how you want the hood to look I could create one. I make fiberglass for early model mustangs to make Shelby replicas, eleanors, and the like but I have a stock LT1 hood laying around so all I would need is what you would want it too look like. Wouldn't be terribly expensive unless you need to buy the SS airbox, and I'd have to aquire one to mock up. Anyways if someone is really intersted in this let me know maybe i can whip something up and I can provide pictures of the things I already make so you can see it's not just some cheesy backyard operation.

I think it would be a great idea. Not for me cuz I'm broke but I wouldn't be suprised if quite a few people were seriously interested. I think something along the lines of a mach 1 would look good. Maybe a 12" wide scoop that comes up 1.5"- 2". It could easily be mounted on the intake.

Re: LT-1 shaker hood

so whata ya guys think of this... im gonna base this idea of the LS1 Z hood i know this is lt1 but bare withme
so take the flat hood with no scoops or anything and then take and SS scoop but wth out the runners coming off the front and then the front would be baisically flat with the grill then cut a hole that shape in the stock Z hood then just mount the SS scoop on the SS ram air box like is on the LT1's kinda crazy but i think it would look good might even look alright with the little scoops on the LT1 Z hood but ill try and fab it up with PS and post a pic later
