That was the biggest drawback I could think of. There is no way I'd buy a converted car.

Re: ls1 to lt1 front end conversion

if i found an LS1 camaro with an LT1 front end for sale and i could afford it, i would be all over it, personally i think the lt1's looks more agressive, ls1's look like a damn sebring front end

yeah... I know what car you are talking about. I bought the complete Ebony interior out of it.
When I saw it, it was primer black. For the life of me I could not figure out why anyone would change from a ls1 ss front end to the lt1 front end? Different strokes for different folks.

Yes, it works for sure. No mods to it are needed.

My roomate transplanted an LS1 into a 97 SS, and used the 1le elbow/ K&N CAI combo that was on the original LT1 that was in the car to clear the hood. To our surprise, the oval opening on the 1le elbow fits over a stock LS1 throttle body perfectly. I might see if I can snap a few pics of it when I get home this evening, but trust me it works fine

Pro's:

-you don't have a Sebring/less agressive front end
-ultimate sleeper (pull up to another LS1 and surprise it!)
-Make a profit if selling old LS1 front end

Yeah...why wouldn't you do it?

Post the same question with a poll on LS1Tech.com and see what they say.

Hey man, if it's what you're after then go for it. I would try and find a car that has been hit in the *** at a junkyard and snag the entire front end off of it. That would be a whole lot easier than trying to chase down the little odds and ends brackets you may need.

The Ls1 will fit, it's just the intake. Actually there was an article in GM Hightech where a guy did an LS1 swap into a LT car and it looked like all he did was put a LT1 style CAI on it.

Re: ls1 to lt1 front end conversion

I asked the guy on ebay how he got the Callaway Honker to fit the LS1 and this is what he said:
I dont have any pics because I removed the intake but I can tell you how...If you remove the bottom of the radiator or loosen it up a bit you can squeeze the intake just in front of the radiator. once the intake is in then you install the filter, after you screw back the radiator in place...the trick is trying to connect the air filter to the bottom, make sure you wigle the filter from side to side untill the filter squeezes in, the radiator will fall on top of the filter so it will be kind of tough to screw the radiator back together.

Re: ls1 to lt1 front end conversion

One of the reasons I bought my lt1 was I hated the ls1 camaro front end, plus I actually hate the newer camaro interior, I thought I would like it better, but when I sat in it, I couldn't believe they made an interior feel cheesier, but they did. I am still jealous of that center console though.

You think the pre 97 interior looks good? That's a first.

I like the '93-'96 interior better. The leather seats aren't perforated and the dash cluster is easier to read. The worst part about it is the A/C vent locations just because the center one for the driver is teeny tiny.

I can understand that. I always felt they look cheap.

After sitting in it, theres a few things I realize are better about the 93-96 interior, the non perforated leather as mentioned, the plastics don't feel as cheap, the dash is driver oriented, gives it a more cockpit feel, the dash also isn't as square and has a sportier shape, more a/c vents, the drivers section/center console is black and I like the bose better then monsoon.

The only thing that sucks is the center console(the more cup holders is sweet), and whenever you go over 1/2 throttle crap flys out the cd holder
