LS1 Brake upgrade (pics)

I did the LS1 brake upgrade, put on some decals from Brent (awesome job like always). Think they look pretty good-black painted calipers, silver decals. Brand new rotors and pads

Let me know what you think,

Erik

EDIT: A GOOD COMPARISON IS LOOK AT PICTURE 3 AND COMPARE IT TO PIC 4-PIC 3 IS NEW SETUP-PICK 4 IS MY STOCK SET UP-LOOK AT THE DIFFERENCE IN THE SIZE OF THE ROTORS.

Looks good!

Btw how involved was the install?
Was it pretty much just a swap and hook up brake lines or did you have to modify anything?

That looks awesome. I'd also like to know. Also how much did it cost you?

are those the 12.8" rotors? How big of a difference is it when stopping? Worth it?

Calipers are off a 2002 Camaro. Brake pads were new, but are just stock pads off an LS1. Rotors are advanced auto parts OEM type (not positive on the size, whatever a stock LS1 has-but not 12.8 b/c I saw an upgrade for a LS1 is that size-I think that is a vette caliper maybe).

As far as the install, my brother did it when he had an LT1 about a year ago. The first time was a pain-but now he knows what he's doing so it took him a little over an hour or so.

As far as a difference over LT1 brakes-I haven't tested these yet-I was missing a bolt so i have to buy one tomorrow then finish the job and get it aligned-but I rode in both of my brothers cars when they had a Lt1 and did the conversion-HUGE difference. They are used to their brakes so when they drove mine they both thought they were about to die b/c they hit my brakes and thought I had none . My one bro said he almost wrecked b/c he forgot how bad our brakes are.

Pricing for me was $250-pretty good deal if you ask me-but I picked them up from a local guy on the board-I'd like to say thanks to "camarossguy2".

Like I said, i didn't do the install myself-but my brother said its really not too bad-here's a write up I found about it:
http://www.fbody.com/tech/details.cgi?id=30

Thanks for the comments guys, I'll try to get more pics up once its aligned.

They look good man. But I'm gonan suggest one thing on the Rotors. On the part that comes out, try to either spray a clear coat, or paint them silver. I have some Advance Auto Rotors in the rear, and that part turned a rust color.

What did you paint the steering knuckle with?

By the way, it looks good. This will be my next mod, along with lowering springs.

Oh yeah, what all parts did you need to complete the install?? Obviously the rotors, calipers, and knuckles, but what else? Thanks.

Quick question here for you. When one performs the LT1-LS1 brake swap, do you have to do any computer reprogramming or any adjustment, other then having the wheels realigned? Are new brake lines required? Thanks

Parts- basically knuckle out- rotor, caliper, i've heard hubs are interchangeable but why f with it. Stock LT1 lines can be used if necessary- right now we're dealing with a missing line bolt though. Again, best way is to just do knuckle out.

Install- pretty straightforward, hit the three big nut and the brake line, and pull the old knuckle. The car can only be driven straight to an alignment shop.

The LS1 hub/ABS assembly works with your stock computer.

Braking performance is a huge difference- honestly, you guys must be able to squat 400lbs, cause your brakes suck!
