Losing my antenna
Losing my antenna
Wasn't sure if I should post this here or in electronics, but I was wanting to get rid of my antenna, to make the car look a little cleaner once it gets painted. But I didn't know if there was some type of hidden antenna I could purchase so that I could still pick up radio stations. Anyone know for sure? Thanks in Advance.

Re: Losing my antenna
If you are talking about shaveing the antenna, then there are antennas that you can stick on your rear window so you can still get reception, or you could switch to XM or something. But i am running without any antenna at all and i still get great reception. I just have whats left of the original mounting bracket that is connected to the radio stuffed up by where my spare was.
Re: Losing my antenna
Do you know where I can get an antenna to stick on the inside of my rear window?
I'm not sure how much body work it involves, but my car is getting painted and needs quite a bit of body work already. I don't think it is too hard, but not for sure.

Re: Losing my antenna
i shaved my antenna and bought a low profile one that mounts int he top of my hatch on the inside. it only coat like 30 bucks and i get better reciption now than before with the stock one.
the body work isnt hard if your going to weld a "filler" plate in now if you want to use bondo your going to have to lay some fiberglass mat under the hole and once its dry then fill the top with bondo.

Re: Losing my antenna
What i did was cut a piece of metal the size and shape of the hole where the antena mount was, weld that in, grind it down to match the body, bondo it smooth it down, primer it, and paint. Looks great, cant even tell the car had an antenna in the first place. I think best buy has those window mounted antennas, im sure a car audio store would have them too.
