can you run a hi-beam bulb in the low beam position?

Plugs are different just enough so you can't do that

Unless of course you buy a 9005 wiring harness from NAPA ($5-$10), Shucks or wherever. Then you can switch 'em.

I did that - didn't notice a good difference. The high beam pattern is a lot more diffused. I would either stick the stock way - or go totally aftermarket.

Very easy to Dremel down the ribs in the connector and make the hi and low plugs universal. I did it that way because when I upgraded my harness I switched two of the connectors. DOH.
They should snap together fine with the ribs removed.
