What's the lightest tint you can get without it being pointless to put on?

It's illegal to do side windows here, but I just want to do something to get the cooling effect

 

the lightest I've seen is 50%. I'd stop by your local shop to find out if they have anything lower than that.

yes ive got pulled over for having 35% on my side windows, cops have nothing better to do, but i have on it now 42% so far no problems

 

Im wanting tints too on my black TA, however worried i'll get cops to stop me, so 42% is that dark enough for people not to see you, but cops wont bother? The back i'll do the same tint as the T-tops but I have to find someone with a specially ordered size so i don't get a line down the middle of my back window.

 

i have 20% in the back no problem with that, and 42% isnt all that great, but the cops wont bother you either, on a overcasted day they wont be able to see in, but if the sun is out they will be able to see in, its only 42%

 

Some shops can get clear tint. It blocks the UVs that kill the interior. That may be too "light" for you.
