Light options
I have on back-order AutoOptics min-quad sealed beam conversion but am kinda worried about the light pattern. I have heard that they aren't the best replacement but I need something better. I have seen the write-ups on the hella and piaa light conversions, but I don't really like that look and don't want to deal with the install. Is there any other companies that have a sealed beam conversion for our min-quad light setup. I used to have a Fiero and did a conversion with hella housings but can't find it for the camaro. help anyone???
You really should go with the Hella ff75 conversion. Not only will it only take an hour to mount all 4, but the size is almost the same as the existing housings with a crystal clear lens. There arent any write ups on the hella conversion because honestly a 10 year old could mount them. As for other alternatives, there arent many, if any at all. I have pics on page 2 in my sig if you want to see them.
ok so suppose I go with the ff75 conversion, what about my hi beams? Are these bright enough to substitute? Do they have higher wattage bulbs? would I need to upgrade my wiring?
If you can cancel your order on the AutoOptiks Housings, please do it! They are complete junk. I ordered them a while back and had them packed back in the box ready to return in 10 minutes. They don't fit correctly in the stock brackets and they aren't any better light output wise than the stock housings. The bulb is also only held in by a small little clip, nothing professional at all!
The Hella FF75 seems to be my favorite conversion of all that I have seen. I haven't done it yet because I am pretty much satisfied with the setup I am running and can't justify spending $150 on headlights at the moment - I have too many other things to spend money on.
As for the wiring...you will be fine with the stock wiring. See this thread.
Another one of your options though (least expensive) is to out better bulbs in the stock housings...and possibly a fog light upgrade too.
