LED Taillights
LED Taillights
Does anybody have LED taillights? I saw some new LED replacement bulbs that have a multiple LEDs at differnet angles that way they can take advantage of the reflector housings in stock taillght applications.
Anybody have pics.?

My local Advance has replacement bulbs that are leds. It's about 10 dollars for the 194 bulb replacements. I don't know the price for the rest cause that was what I needed. They're in the ricer section.
I second what shock said.
Don't get me wrong; those lenses look really neat (you did an awesome job), but I have a feeling they probably look home-made when they are lit up in the dark. If you roughed the plastic up a bit, maybe from the inside, it would give a uniform distrubution of the light and it would look very cool.

I have LEDs on my rear sidemarkers (the lens is clear). The light also doesn't show up well during the day, but at night they look great.
I like LEDs because they light up brighter and faster, and last longer than the regular bulbs. They also give a richer color look to them.

LED's have very focused light. They do not light up entire housings well at all. Even in our gauge clusters, you need the 5 LED bulbs just to fill in the cluster. The only decent way to do the tails would be to open 'em up and lay out dozens of individual LED's in a grid pattern of sorts. Other than that, a simple bulb swap will look crappy.

They are supposed to disperse the light sideways and forward. So with 24 red LED bulbs shining through a red lends, wouldn't the light be brighter than using the regular LED bulb set-up? Or should I use white LEDs, since the red lenses will absorb the light from the red LEDs? I am really thinking about getting these for my brake lights and back-up lights, but if you can't see my brake lights during the day what’s the use.

Yes if you have red taillight lens, go with white/clear LEDs, it will be much brighter.
Found these on eBay when I was looking for a new chrome front badge.
They would look better without those circles and with a black backing instead of chrome, but these are the first true LED tails I've seen for an F-body.

I just found some with a red lens also. These look ten times better. They also had them in a smoke lens color, but I can't find any with the black backing. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/93-98...spagenameZWDVW
And here's some with the black backing. I may actually put these on my car. I doubt it, but I'm considering it.
