LED Fog Lights

I whipped these up in my spare time.

I could have done brighter LEDS but i didnt know if it would work

I'm very happy with them. If i had had more resources I could have made them in a halo design with even more brighter LEDs!

They throw light about 10 or 15 feet and i wired them to come on with the parking lights

Tell me what you think

They're pretty cool, but I feel they could probably be laid out straighter. Also, you might want to consider making some sort of lens to go in front of them so rocks don't take them out.

Not too shabby.

I've got an idea I've been kicking around to build some, but just haven't had the $$ to work on the car lately... F-ing sucks!!!

That's really cool. I'd like to do something similiar with my Formula. Any chance of doing a write-up on how you did this, and what type of LEDs you used? Thanks.

Ditto. Otherwise, looks promising. What size LED's did you use? They look like 5mm's (aka T1-3/4).

Good deal. Now how do they look in person? The camera can hide flaws and make them appear brighter than they really are. (Check my 'e-Bay white gauge' post pictures for proof). While I may not do something like this for my car, I would like to come up with something for my bike.

Anyway after thinking about this, you could try using a piece of polished aluminum instead of black to help the reflectivity or a piece of white plastic instead of the black.

They are different for sure... how about making a template so you can drill the rows in a straight line? how do they compare in brightness to a normal foglight?

So how would he get the rows in the template to be straight? lol Based on these pics, I'd say they are just as bright as a regular fog light provided the camera hasn't exaggerated the image (slower shutter speed, etc.) And they are drawing a fraction of the power that a regular fog light would draw. I think it's an awesome idea with some more tweaking.

yeah, they are not perfect by any means, but you dont really see them in the daytime and at night you never notice that they arent perfectly straight.

I would not do them in aluminum or white plastic because they would look like crap in the day. I didnt want them to be noticable durring the day.

also the camera does not exaggerate the brightness IMO

they are pretty bright, running off of a 9 volt battery with no resistance they were as bright as headlights!! I swear

The reason they are not like headlights is that they are not focused at one spot but all face in one direction.

ill make a write up soon
