these doors are not what im looking for:

something mor like this:

see how it doesnt swing out as much? if it had to rotate on one axis some, that would be fine, but not on both axis'. I imagine this could work in two ways: one being that the door opens like a gullwing and is hinged on the factory location. or: the door rotates a small amount for clearance purposes raises like a diablo door.

Yea I'd do it but after I get an LS1 swap. A true show car has to have muscle also. My 86 Z would be a good canidate, but the doors would look better on the 2000.

Oh, but they are, my friend. The f-body door is incredibly heavy, and the area behind the door where the old hinges were must be cut out in order for the door to swing in. We re-used only the latch mechanism. In no way can you use the stock hinges by reversing them like on trucks. It took a few hundred man hours to make the doors on my car, and custom made hinges and a re-engineering of the whole inside of the door, including adjustable rods to keep them in place, and removing the rods which control the latch mechanism for electric switches. That's just an easy overview of a 6 month project. I can see why those kits are so expensive because to do it right, it is highly expensive.
Well if u think about it, all u would need is 2 hydrolic lifts for the door, and no hing really, (hing would be good for safty features) but with hydrolics u can lift the door quite easiy... this stuff has got my check book open i want one of those

I really wish this thing would just die. I think most everyone in here is on crack and when they end up with a couple of junk doors and a messed up car I won't say I told you so. You have no idea how hard it is to pull stuff like this off and make it show quality. The labor, expense and heartache is unbelievable. I am also tired of seeing photoshop hard at work.

VENT- RANT

Ok I am better now.

The photoshop pics that people have been posting are just to get a general idea. the kit that carexcess is selling is the one made by decah. Thats who's is going to do mine, I've already talked to them and got a price. plus I call regularly to check on the status of my kit. So it is plausible and only 33 pounds!!! My sub enclosure weighs double that already. It still comes down to opinion, some like it, some dont, but guaranteed if you saw a 2000 camaro pulling up and swingin' the doors up, your mouth would drop. the price is not outrageous either, I'd pay it!! And I plan to!!
This mod or thread is not something that was made up or just thought about. It is being done to civics and other imports on a daily basis. I'm in both the domestic and import world so I know of what I speak. But it's 2003, you wont catch me tryin to hook up my cars the old fashion way (ex. 17 inch rims, tint, and 2 12's) c,mon with all the engine swaps, turbo set-ups, chargers, NOS, 20's on 3rd and 4th gens, 4th gen carbon fiber hoods (whistler) etc... how can you be blind to Lambo doors. Do I have to say it again "L-A-M-B-O-R-G-H-I-N-I D-O-O-R-S"!!!!!

So what your sayin is that every F-body owner should stick to the norm huh? The world would be a very boring place!!!!!!! I leave that to the stang owners lol. Camaro owners have imagination and ambition for building either a street clean car or a new millenium hotrod. I prefer the latter!!!

Now that I've seen it, I love it!!! But one thing though, the fact that they already did the 98-02 camaro kit tells me one thing. They did'nt remember to call me, I was going to get it at a discount price because "I" was supposed to be the first 4th gen they did. Also I was supposed to be first on the waiting list .Now I gotta call dude back and ask him what's up. Without the discount the regular price is $1900 for the kit and $1000 install (total- $2900). My car was supposed to be the one on that exact same web page, but it's cool (naw screw that I'm pissed!!)

I tried to keep it a secret because of the price I was getting and he said it would be another two months before the kit was ready. But to all who had asked me, yes thats is where I was going to go!! I had planned to take the trip down to Florida and make a weekend out of it. But bills have hit me hard this month so I'll get them soon enough (maybe winter). Oh well, I still got my dubz lol!!!
