Try links at bottom of page, claim to have kits for $1,600.
Only thing listed in that sites application are Honda's, Mitsu Eclipse and Toyota's. The main link is pretty informative though on how the doors work in general.

Is it just me or how come you can't take the passenger side hinges and use those at the driver side hinges (suicide doors)? And then do the same with driver/passenger side doors. Some of the parts will be upside down but could still easily work. You would only need someone to cut the holes in the body and run the wires(yea, running wires is hard). I seriously don't see how suicide doors would be that difficult.

Oh, but they are, my friend. The f-body door is incredibly heavy, and the area behind the door where the old hinges were must be cut out in order for the door to swing in. We re-used only the latch mechanism. In no way can you use the stock hinges by reversing them like on trucks. It took a few hundred man hours to make the doors on my car, and custom made hinges and a re-engineering of the whole inside of the door, including adjustable rods to keep them in place, and removing the rods which control the latch mechanism for electric switches. That's just an easy overview of a 6 month project. I can see why those kits are so expensive because to do it right, it is highly expensive.

They are cool but not worth the 15-20K to get it done right. Hell for that price sell your Z and get a used C5.

found a place that will do it for 100 plus the hinges minus the paint. hinges are 1500/pr. so the people paying 15000 must have power or automatic doors.

dont have an address because the guy is local. he is helping the car club "crazy concepts" that is in new jersey. the guys in the club said he'd hook me up for cheap. any one you know who used to do body work and is retired may help you out for cheap. i will be doing some of the work and balancing, but still, i'd do it myself if i knew how.

Somebody e-mail him...please!!! Bunch of illiterate peeple.

The Cobra doors are nice, and the overall deal is nice, but for $1700 or so, I'd be darn sure that there was nothing else I could do with that money to greatly improve my ride...

Actually you guys are'nt looking close enough. On that same site there are three links at the bottom of the page. One leads to a site that sells four different hinge kits for $415-$600. The only hard part would be to find a good sheetmetal/body shop man. Compared to $15,000, I'd go with the $600 kit but with no electric mechanical opening. Lambo's dont have power doors so that is a extra option, and just that, an option. Though you will have to deal with the weight factor of the F-body doors. My 86' doors are heavy as concrete lol, but i think my 2000 doors have to be lighter. Since reading this thread I'm almost convince to do this mod on my 2000 (maybe the 86, maybe!!). But it's worth a try!!

Lambo style doors Plus they still open like stock if need be.
I think that is what they call scissor doors.

Actually I looked very close.

I went as far as to e-mail Street Dreams when that original link was posted in this thread. Here is what was said:

Subject: hinges

hello,
I was inquiring information regarding your vertical opening hinge kits. Has your products, either the 1B-4 or 1B-6 hinges been used or capable of being used on a 4th generation F-body ('93-'02). Specifically the Chevy Camaro. If any of your customers have done so, I would appreciate any pictures if you have them. Thanks for your time.

Yes that can be done.

The hinges are not made specifically for that application but can be used on any car that you can modify to make them work on. I don’t have any Camero pics but I have had people buy the hinges to use for that.

One of the door hinges is in the first picture on the web page Style #2 is also a door hinge. The other hinges are for hoods and deck lids. These hinges where designed for the Lambo kit car in the second picture

We have three different methods of hinging on regular cars.

The use of special hinges requiring body modifications is how the systems work.

Yes you can buy just the hinges from us. $415.00 pr. For Type 1A. $425.00 pr. For Type 1B. $375.00 pr. For Type 2A.

I would recommend the Type 1B4 hinge for your car. It offers the most "outward motion" at the hinge point as it rotates.

We are offering the Type 1B4 and the 1B6 hinges in a kit that includes Hinges, Gas Springs, Steel plates with movable mounting studs for adjusting the fit, that you can cut to fit for mounting the hinges to the Door and the Jamb, some Brackets, Ball Studs, Rod ends and some Hardware with Installation Instructions for $650.00

Cost for the whole job?

Do you want us to do some or all of the work, or do you want to just purchase the parts? It is not possible to give you a price up front because of the custom nature of each project. IE. Do you want the door handles shaved, what about the paint work? Does it lift under power or manually? Does it have power locks, power windows, keyless entry? Is it a Sedan or Hard Top? and so on. Plan on spending 5 to 15 thousand.

We are in Middleville Michigan. Just south of Grand Rapids and about 45 min west of Lansing.

Thank you

Ross

I would have to have a serious hole in my pocket to even consider any of those mods.
All the same - the Cobra is kinda cool.
Not a big fan of rear opening doors. There's just no thrill for me - it's the same as front opening - except backwards.
