I'm really disappointed in the amount of porosity in these intakes, but they still polish up decently enough. (I guess.) Next it's going to a chrome plater, so the porosity issue should be taken care of in that step. As with the water pump I did 2 weeks ago, I took this to a 12,000 grit Micromesh finish to be sure it was perfect. (My fingers are still throbbing from sanding out all the corners and grooves.) All you eagle eyes out there: see if you can point out what is different about this intake as opposed to an unpolished one. Enjoy.

So what do you think?

That's what I was thinking. Mine's polished, too, but it's been about 9 years since I did mine so my memory is certainly a little hazy.

So what got changed?

The hole underneath where the throttle body bolts up was shaved, the two completely useless holes at the front driver's side corner underneath the throttle linkage were shaved, as were the little nubs that protrude from in between the injector bosses that have the holes to hold FRC studs. Lastly, all the little square shaped projections that reside in between each set of head bolt holes were shaved. It accounted for about 5 hours labor out of the total 40 or so that went into it, so I figured it was worth mentioning.

I'm seriously considering shaving ALL the vaccuum port holes along the sides and relocating them to the rear of the intake, to cut down on the amount of hoses/clutter running along the top of the engine. Need to do more research to see what's feasable though.

Thanks for all the positive feedback.

That is the best polished lt1 intake I have seen.

How many hours do you have in this?

I will be selling polished lt1 intakes shortly, hopefully within a few weeks.
