I've gotten two estimates......
I've gotten two estimates......
It's a long story, just look in my sig for a streamlined version. There's two scratches in the nosepiece, between the headlights and just to the right of the Camaro emblem, if you're looking at the car head-on. There's also a fairly noticeable dent in the lip of the hood, right where it meets the nosepiece. Another very small dent and some scuff marks up higher on the hood.
I've been to two places, and in the final estimates both of them said the usual: repair the bumper cover, paint it, remove the scoops from the hood, repair the hood, paint the hood and scoops, blah blah blah.........BUT.....the first place said they would blend the fenders, and the second place I just came back from said they "would stay within the parameters of the hood so they wouldn't have to touch the fenders".
What does this all mean? FWIW, the first estimate (the one that would blend the fenders) was $1,225 and the second one (non-blending) was $925.
What should I do? Which is the better place? Do I really need the fenders blended? If I don't, will it be very noticeable? I care most about all the colors matching and nothing sticking out when standing close up to the car. Sorry for the long post, thanks in advance.

Re: I've gotten two estimates......
If I were you I would have the fenders blended no doubt. Basically when they belnd them all they do is sand the whole fender down with a real light grit paper so it doesnt go past the clear. Then they will just paint like maybe the tops of the fenders and kind of fade it out to where it blends in with the old color. Then they just go back and clear the whole fender and the newly painted parts. I worked at a body shop for a while and imo you will be much more happy with the blending. Honestly I dont see why they wouldnt blend it unless the hood damage is very minimal and towards the center of the hood. If that is the case then I would go with the other place cause they could still do a good job if it is in the center. Its really up to you but I would have the fenders blended too so the bumper would match perfect also
Let us know how it goes

Let us know how it goesOn the other hand, the hood and nose look like they've been repainted sometime in the car's life, and whoever did it did a really poor job. You can tell even without examining the car real close.
So in a way, it's good that I got this damage, because I can have the crappiness of the nose and hood redone. I talked to my dad about it and he said he would rather not touch the fenders because they're perfect the way they are. I'm just really hung up on the colors all matching really really well and not being able to notice the redo.
And BTW, the damage to the hood is almost in the middle. I'd say maybe 4-5 inches to the right of the Camaro emblem. Probably not even that far away. But they're gonna paint the whole hood, so.......eh I'm not sure what to do at all.

One thing I do know, is that the bottom part of the hood and the nose looks like the surface of an orange peel. It's pretty obvious in the sunlight. It's terrible.

I'm gonna go with the $925.00 (the one without the fender work). I'm thinkin everything will go smoothly with this. I most definitely won't have a check by the end of the week, and I'm going on vacation next week, so hopefully I'll be getting the repairs done in two weeks tops.
Re: I've gotten two estimates......
Send him the higher estimate and then have the other place do it
Haha shoot some pics when you get it done. Check out my sig sometime and see what ya think of my car
I think I may sell the SS hood soon so I can buy the ultra z

Re: I've gotten two estimates......
Estimate is all faxed. $3.50 less in my pocket now
everything's a ripoff these days. But I paid in quarters, so it was sorta funny.
I'm really surprised this guy is willing to just "send me the check" when he gets the paperwork. I guess since the "offending party" is a big business and not a private guy, it all works faster. I'm lucky it wasn't a private person, otherwise I may still be trying to get in touch with the insurance company.
If you guys ever have any kind of accident, always try and have it with a big business.
I'll take pics when it's all done and I get the car back, as soon as I get the check I'm dropping it off, in a perfect world it'll be before this weekend because I'm going on vacation on Sunday and I would absolutely love it if they could have my car the whole week I'm gone.......but I'm not holding my breath. So it looks like it may be in the shop in a week and a half to two weeks or so. And I'm also most likely gonna put the ROH ZR6's on the car on Thursday...if they can take me then. I'll be taking an all-new set of pics for my CarDomain page.
