Interior vinyl paint/dye for color change

Anyone recommend a good brand? For an older car, looking at painting the headliner, console, dash, etc. from an ugly brown to black. Is vinyl paint any good or does it wear/chip off any look worse over time?

i do not know if this would be the best idea.
but what i would do is sand every thing down nice and smooth.
prime every thing, paint and clear coat.
i think that would be the best finish if ur looking for that shiny look.

Vinyl paint works very well - but it will wear off a little in high wear areas - such as arm rests, etc. But it can repainted over very easy, and prep work is almost nothing. It should be fine for everything you are wanting to do, except possibly the console - if you are planning on resting your arm on it much.

As you stated, you don't paint plastic you dye it, Eastwood.com and all the restoration places, (year one, etc.) have the prep, primer, and dyes to do this right.
