Interchanging T-Tops

I've searched for a definitive answer, but have yet to find one.

Are all 3d Gen T-tops interchangeable? I have an '82 Z-28 that I'm working on and the passenger side top is cracked. I have an '88 Z with good tops. When I try to install the '88 top in the '82, it seems the '88 top is just about a 1/4-1/2" too large.

I'm wondering if this is due to different top design or perhaps the age of the '82 might have slightly changed the specs on the t-top mounting.

Thanks.

Nope, sorry bro the tops won't interchange. Two companies made them for the 3rd gens; Fisher and Cars and Concepts. The one's from Cars and Concepts will interchange from 82-92. Fisher made three sets of tops that interchange from 82-84, 85-88 (W/ Trim Molding) and 85-92. Here are the specs:

Cars and Concepts (82-92): 28" Long x 24 3/4" Wide 2.5" Molding
Fisher (82-84): 30 1/4" Long x 24" Wide 1 1/2" Molding
Fisher (85-88): 30 1/4" Long x 24" Wide 1 1/2" Molding
Fisher (85-92): 30 1/4" Long x 24" Wide 1 1/2" Molding

Now I guess you just have to figure out whatcha got and find some that can match. Hope I helped!
