Ideas for Cassette Holder needed
I have the '93-'96 style console. I actually like the way everything is setup, but like probably most of you guys I don't use that stupid cassette holder console between the radio and center console.
Does anyone have an idea on what to do with that thing ? I want to use the space in some way. I would like to hear on what others have done with that thing ? Put a DVD screen in ? some extra gauges ? Please give me some ideas...
Thanks, Alex

I think most people just make a flat plate to cover it up and install gauges. That thing sure is worthless. I always had my CD's in there and when i would hammer it they all came flying out every time. Everything on the 93-96 console is worthless. Worthless cassette holder, junk console lid, and ****ty cupholder that dumps your pop in your shifter when you brake. I guess thats why i upgraded to the 97+. Now i'm building a custom CD holder to fill the void taken up by the old cassette holder.

MUAHAH your right on it ! everything I every put in that "cassette" holder come flying back to me as soon as I hammer it down.. I always get pissed about that :LOL.... console lid is a peace of junk too, I need to order me a new one since my old one just broke apart.... the cupholder is funny, specially if you have a 6speed and want to shift when something is in the cupholder...HAHA
Do you have a picture of cars that have done these kind of cover plates ?

I bought some plastic speaker box material that has the same type of grain like on the dash. I just made a blank piece to cover it with until I use it for something else. I can take digital of it and email it if you want. I use to have some switches mounted on one until I sold my nitrous kit. Mine is made to where I can take it off and on with just 4 screws.

A while back ago I bought a autometer 93-96 gauge pod console cover. It's true they auctaully made a pod cover to cover that cassette cd space. It looks awesome. Prefitted with the cig.light. looks factory. For some reason autometer stop making them. Beleive it. I wish I had a pic of it to show you.- Mike

Sounds good, appreciate if you could take a few pics and email 'em to me at AlexBanker@Hotmail.com
I specially like that you can take the plate off with 4 screws. I was thinking about such a plate too, but couldn't think of a good way to make it stay there

About things flying out of the cassette holder - I used one of those sticky pad things that are made to hold glasses on a dash board; it works quite well. For example I can put my cell phone in there now and it wont budge now matter what i do.
Re: Ideas for Cassette Holder needed
Can you buy plastic with the same finish as the console that could be used to make a door for the casette holder? I bet I could fab up a hinged door to make it a useable storage compartment.
