I painted my Valve Covers and Intake: Take a Look!

Alright, I know its a V6, but I thought you guys still might like to see what one of my projects has been off and on for the last few weeks.

Well, a few months ago, I pulled my engine to replace the rear main and put in a new clutch. Since it was out, I figured I'd replace the leaky valve cover gaskets. Since I had those off, I figured what the hell, why not paint them. After I painted them, I decided I wanted to paint the intake also. So I've been on a painting marathon for a while now. I'm also working on polishing the throttle body, and the alternator. Here are some pics of what I've got done so far.

There ia also one of my headers that came yesterday I can't wait to get everything put back together.

There is paper between the 2 intakes, just cuz I set them on top of each other for effect, and I didn't want to scratch up the gasket surfaces.

The paint I used is the same thing I've used on my Calipers, which can be seen in this thread (Click Me) I think it matches my paint pretty nice.

I think when I put it all back together, I'm going to redo my wire loom in black again. I had started doing it in red, before I started this project.

Well, here are the pics:

That looks great .. can't wait to see pics of it when it's finished !

By the way, your exhaust is the most tastefully done exhaust I have ever seen on a V6

Well thank you for all the kind words. I was hoping I didn't catch too much flak for posting V6 stuff on the Z28 bored, but I thought you guys might like the results and would want to try something like that on your LT1 intakes, for those of you that have them.

As for the exhaust, I didn't want anything too loud, but I wanted a performance gain. Overall I was real happy with the Flowmaster Catback. I also really like the slimple slash cut Stainless tips. I hope it sounds good after I get the headers on. I think I'm going to throw a High Flow cat in there right away, while I've got it all apart.

Wow. Thanks again everyone.

On a side note, I found a great way to shine up rough Alum. peices quickly.

I bought some 1/4 shaft wirebrushes, made for Drills, ect. I put these on my Air powered Die Grinder and let it rip. It really takes off the oxidation and shines stuff up nicely. Worked wonders on the Alternator.

Dude thats the cleanest 93-97 I have ever seen

VERY good work. You obviously put a lot of effort into that car.

Props!

I like the way you kept everything simple.

Matching the colors on everything = cool

I like the 3800 V6 decal, works well with the car.

You have inspired me to paint my calipers, although I havnt decided on color yet. Probably to match my car (Pewter)

Nice job on the intake. Hows the TB coming along?

Also, the exhaust is fabulous! I am a very conservative person, always trying too go for the cleanest look, instead of "look at me"

Me and you think alike

Peace,
Chris

Wow! I figured my thread would have been a few pages down by now. Low and behold I come back and its still here on the first page!

Thanks again for all the props! I'm glad there is more V6/V8 friendliness then I thought there was!

I bolted the engine back together tonight. (Still out of the car) I must say it looks pretty sharp!

I also test fitted my headers today. It seems like my Y-Pipe is welded wrong, it won't reach between the two headers I emailed pacesetter, I hope I can get this sorted out quick, I'd like to get the car back on the road.

I've got the alternator polished now, along with the Thermostat housing/water outlet. I think I'm also going to zap the whole water pump housing assy. on the front of the engine with the wire brush also.

I'll put up more pics of everything and how its coming along on saturday.
