I need brake light help!

I recently purchased a 98+ SS Spoiler off a local person but it does not have the 3rd brake light. I tried to get one from the stealer-ship but the guy behind the counter didnt understand what I was talking about. I tried to do a search on here but couldn't find anything usefull.

Can anyone provide me with links from online stores, or even ebay for a 98+ SS Spoiler 3rd brake light!? Maybe even someone I could contact about it? I dont know what brand spoiler it is either.

Thanks in advance for any help!

-Alex

Call Jason Cromer. He sells GM parts at wholesale prices to people from the internet. Just call 877-726-8295 and ask for Jason in the parts department.

Re: I need spoiler help!

Don't do that, because GM won't be able to get you any SS stuff, you have to go through SLP. Go online to wings west, and get yourself a 12in led light. Make sure your spoiler will be albe to fit a 12in one though, some aftermarket 98 & up SS spoilers were made to fit a 9.5in led light, which is not the same a the factory SS spoilers. Measure, then give wings west a call, they will hook you up. Remember on installation, you will need to use a relay in your wiring to work properly, otherwise your abs inop light will come on, and the led light will stay on very dim constantly due to the wires not having enough resistance in them to deal with an led light compared to the normal z28 third brake light. Any questions, let me know.

SLP was only in charge of the 96-97 SS Camaros. GM was in charge of the 98+ and parts for them can be ordered through any dealership. The part number for the GM replacement 98+ SS 3rd brake light assembly is 12369969 and it is $83.04 through www.gmpartsdirect.com

Re: I need spoiler help!

Thats interesting, you should talk to some local dealerships about that then when you go in there and try to order an ss hood or spoiler, or anything that SLP placed on the 98-02 camaro's. Its hard enough to get SS badges at a chevy dealership. FYI, SLP did work with the 98-02 SS's.

I guess it's interesting that your dealerships weren't interested in helping you and more interested in getting you out of their service department. My local GM service manager printed out the GM part numbers complete with diagrams from the parts manual when I was interested in converting my 93 to a 98+ SS clone. You can even contact Shoebox on here and download the manual for yourself. I'll even help you locate the section. Group 12, Section 7. Conveniently titled "98-02 Moldings - Body (SS) (WU8)". By the way, yes I know that SLP did the work on the LS1 SS, but GM was completely in charge over it that year unlike the 96-97 models.

Re: I need spoiler help!

I understand and I apologize if I came off sounding like I was wanting to pick a fight. I also understand that he isn't sure whether or not it's a GM spoiler, which like you said, completely complicates things and he needs to find out what kind it is for the proper part. But if it's a GM spoiler than he's going to have to go through GM to get it since SLP doesn't offer the 98+ SS parts. They can legally sell the 96-97 parts, but GM owns all the rights to the 98-02 designs and you can pick them up through any GM dealership provided you have the part numbers in hand (mainly because a lot of GM service managers out there are lazy and don't want to take the time to look up the proper part numbers).

Re: I need spoiler help!

96-97 SLP made

98+ GM made

End of story.

Call Jason with the part number. The "aftermarket" spoiler used the stock LED light.
