I just gold plated my engine

Nah... I'm just kidding. But I DID stumble upon a gold plated Pantera on ebay. Have you ever seen anything like that before?

I know Brangeta too well to think he'd make such a departure from stock form to his cars. That's why the title threw me off for a second.

And while it looks very impressive, it seems pretty dumb to me. Pardon me if I'm wrong, but wouldn't the gold discolor from the heat kind of like chrome headers do?

you think that is bad. I was at a car show in washington state in 2004 or so. There was a car with gold and silver plating on the engine, engine accessories, gold plating on the brake rotors, all the brake lines and fuel lines were plated... it was crazy, and utterly pointless. You could not even drive the car. they trailered it everywhere. On almost every inch of area that was plated it was also engraved.
