Re: I didnt know this existed!

I might be wrong... but I think ABS plastic is what our stock headliners are made out of... atleast mine is.

Re: I didnt know this existed!

I think it is very cool and I thought about getting one...but then I realized that I am having a hard time seeing the benefit to switching.

Where is the advantage? Just looks? Someone fill me in!

For me, I'd only consider it if my headliner was shot to begin with and I needed a new one. I prefer the cloth look but if I needed a new one, I'd consider looking at one of these. Other than replacing one that is shot, I can't see a good reason to get one either? Weight savings maybe? Carrying dogs in your Camaro and you need to hose out the inside of your car weekly? Heck, I don't know.

Having the headliner not "teabag" your head anymore comes to mind.

LOL! Funny you mention that... hadn't really thought if it before but I've had the same pair of Reeboks now for several years. And haven't bought a new pair of jeans in a couple years either. Guess I'm more into cars than clothes.

Re: I didnt know this existed!

I bought an ABS headliner for my third gen and it looked friggin sweet! I think the benefit is that if your t tops do leak a little bit, it wont damage the headliner and the fabric wont start to sag.

Re: I didnt know this existed!

D'oh, yeah I had a very very very blonde moment and thought ABS plastic was the styrofoam-like stuff. Mine's like cloth material, then cardboard, and then a foam of some sort. Haha, yeah blonde moment.

I was always thinking it'd be fun to fiberglass a headliner like someone else on this board did -- only I'd fiberglass my faceplate into the headliner instead of having the faceplate to my CD player in my sunvisor.

Re: I didnt know this existed!

FWIW, I bought one of these but haven't put it in yet. I liked it because 1.) It won't disinegrate when I repeatedly take it out for various things like my stock one did, and 2.) Cloth is covering the seat belt holes, which is nice since they're gone in favor of 5pt harnesses. Quality is respectable, no flaws that I've seen yet.
