How to run both headlights and brights?

Does anyone know how I could have both my headlights and my brights running at the same time? I have seen it before on Tonys 94 LT1 in the GM Hight Tech magazine and since then I have to do it to my 94 LT1. Thanx for any helpful info!

Re: How to run both headlights and brights?

My 94 Z28 when i turn on the brights (pulling the wiper/cruise control level/switch towards you) the headlights and brights both stay on, however, if you have fog lights, those will shut off, i took out the stock foglights and put on four smaller circular fog lights (i plan on doing a circular PIAA-lookalike headlight mod) and i wired it to a seperate switch, instead of wiring to the stock fog light wires, so i can have my fogs, low beams and high beams all on at the same time...which isn't really necessary, but that's the way i have it.

All you need is a piece of wire to go from the relay to ground

When you switch to high beams, your low beams should stay on. If they don't then there is some kind of problem or something has been changed in the wiring, etc. (Unless you are talking about a '98+ car.)

As far as the fog lights go, it doesn't require much, just tapping into a couple of wires underneath the underhood fuse box, and changing the current. There were a couple of guides, but they are no longer up.

If you can't find anything on search, I will try and take a look at mine and see what I did - I never changed it back even after I put in the 1LE fog light deletes.

would this work, putting low beam headlights where my high beams are? That way I would have them both on with out blinding on coming traffic!

You can do that. All you have to do is either modify the plug on the back of the headlights, or just splice in a 9006 bulb harness on the end of your high beam wiring.

The problem though is that it isn't gonna help with blinding the oncoming traffic much.

The thing is - the low beam (9006 bulb) has a coated tip. This allows it to have more of a concentrated beam. The high beam (9005) bulb, has an unpainted tip, giving it a much more scattered beam - that's why its not really any use putting a high beam in the spot of the low beam to make your headlights brighter.

So you are still gonna blind drivers as long as you have 4 headlights on (which is always the case when you have your "brights" on).

Nonono, I think he meant he wants to put the 9006 lowbeam sealed lense mounted to replace the highbeams -- so he wouldn't have brights at all, and instead he would have 2 lowbeams per side on when he drives...

Exactly. I think you might have misread my post.

First I told him how to do that, then I explained the problems with it.

I believe that this is where the diagram is at to make all 6 work at the same time.
