Re: How to remove shifter **** on an auto?
There is a small retaining clip at the back of the shifter ****. It can be pryed out with a small flat-edge pocket screwdriver and the **** will pull right off the shaft.

There is a small staple in the front(towards the radio) of the ****. Pull the shifter back to 1st(or 2nd) get a flat head screw drvier or needle nose plyers, and pull the staple out. Then just pull the **** off, but watch out if its the first time you are doinf this because the **** usually sticks and then flys up hitting you in the face. So be careful I learned that the hard way.

After you get the staple out, shift it back into park. That way when you pull too hard and it flys off, you'll hit the rear view mirror instead of your face
