how to remove hood?

Ok I'm tired of searching, I'm looking for how to remove the hood on my 1994 Z28. I've never taken the hood off a car before so I have no idea.

I'm buying a OEM GM SS hood off a guy so I need to know how to remove mine. Also I assume a stock 1997 SS hood would fit right onto a 1994 z28, correct?

He also told me to bring the hinges and latch from my car. are there any special tools i need? like a spring compressor?

Re: how to remove hood?

All you need to do is take for the 4 bolts and nuts off (2 per hinge). Then pop the top of the hood struts off. Its a ball and socket im pretty sure. Just a good hit from the side should disconnect them.

Just look at it how its connected. You may need someone else to hold one side of the hood while you undo the other. BE CAREFUL NOT TO HIT THE WINDSHIELD haha people have made that mistake before.

i would make sure the SS hood's nuts that are inside the hood that your bolts will screw into are there... when i first got my SLP hood, one of the nuts inside came loose on shipment and had to snake that bitch to get the bolt to catch the thread bc i already installed the other 3 bolts lol
