How much to paint this?

I wanna get some Xenon GroundEffects, Mecham 4port extractor hood, and a 5 1/2 inch spoiler. How much would something like that cost to paint, i don't want anything cheap but not really expensive either. I was thinkin maybe get the hood painted by a better shop than the groundeffects because the groundeffects are probably gonna get chipped anyway from being so low and the hood is more noticeable.

I'm trying to decide if i should do this or not. The reason i want to get gfx is because i spun out a while ago and the bottom of the front tip and all along that bottom front edge its scratched so if i got gfx it would cover that all up. And if i'm gonna paint those then i should just get everything painted at once and do the hood and spoiler too.

Its not too bad so i'm not sure what i should do next. If i don't do that then i'm probably gonna start workin to get a torque converter and work everything else up to handle a cam, maybe a 230/230 or a lil smaller. So if the cost of painting isn't too much i think i'm gonna get that out of the way now and then do everything else later, So how much would it cost to get all that painted?

I would guess somewhere around $600-$800. I don't work at a body shop though so I could be wrong...

depends on whether you take it to a shop that works on it 'during hours' or if you take it to someone who works at a shop but does the work 'after hours' I just had a front bumper cover completely sanded down and repainted OEM polo green for $75. Prices will also depend on where you live. Shops in the north seem to be a bit more expensive than those in the south.

Re: How much to paint this?

hmm... Well, depends on if you want ti done right or just done...

I would say you're looking at somewhere between $500-$1000 to do it properly. The Hood and GFX need to be blended into the car such that the color matches ecactly, and the Wing should be as well, but some shops paint the wing seperately.

Some places will just spray the parts and call it a day, but the paint can be just a little off... some people notice, others don't.

Skip the Mecham hood. It will cost a *lot* of money to get prepped correctly. Mecham quality sucketh...

(Yes, I did have one on my '99 TA. See pics in sig site. I'll never buy or recommend Mecham hoods again...the quality was *that* bad)

I guess i'll forget about that stuff for now. Goin the TQ converter, suspension and cam route.

Bout the mecham hoods though, besides it being badly prepped, is there anything else bad about them. I want something diffferent and that one is definitely my favorite. As long as i get it correctly prepped, it'll be ok right, or does it start to look bad again after a while maybe cuz of the material.

Re: How much to paint this?

The initial quality is horrible, the fit is bad - it doesn't follow the lines of the fenders right, and the durability is awful. I had stress fractures along the leading edge after less than 2 years, and this was *with* being incredibly careful closing the hood because it felt so flimsy.
Mecham supposedly has changed the mold and improved these issues, but that's what they told me before I ordered one and I was hearing bad things about their quality... :dunno:

Or maybe they were just that much worse before urs. I guess it sounds like i'm not gettin that one when i'm ready to do that stuff. Do any of the Z Style hoods have heat extractors. And those are good quality i'm sure.......right?

I wish i had more money, i need/want rims right now too.
