Cool

I just got my car striped about 2 1/2 months ago, and already there are a couple "tiny" tears or chips. In the back, a little piece of the outer pin-striping tore off, and on the large pieces on the hood, there are a couple "chips" from stones or something? They're not very noticeable at all, but they aren't "perfect" anymore. HOWEVER, I'm not gonna say "don't bother" or "I regret getting them" or "I would never get them again", 'cause I love them, and since my car is daily driven (even in the winter right now) I'm willing to accept a few "flaws" in the car. Hey, it still looks amazing when I give it a thorough wash and buffing.

The stripes I got were custom done at a 3M place (the adhesive guys), but the 35th Anniversary stripes should look nice too.

Capn Pete... your stripes look AWESOME.

1000 % better than the regular Z28 heritage stripes.

Hey, thanks man! I'm definitely happy with them..........I've seen quite a few Z28's with different styles of stripes, and never really one that looked "proper" IMO..............not saying bad, but I wanted the "classic" look (stripe) out of my car, even though it's a new style. Obviously the SS stripes wouldn't work because they're cut to accomodate the hood scoop, so I opted for the custom stripes, and that way I had some say into how they were done.

I've got all black tapered stripes on my green camaro and i love they way it looks, especialy with the carbon black outs, I've had them for about 3 months as well, i wouldn't reccomend leaving the stripes on for more than 6 years,i would be afriad they may damage the paint after that much time. I'll tell you what i'm sure of though and that is the stripes won't look there best until after about 6 weeks because the sun does a good job of smoothing them out. I really should have taken more time putting mine on, i did the hood stripes betifully in like 15min but i didn't bother to take off the spoiler to do the rear and i've got some wrinkles under the spoiler, but over all i'm really pleased with how i layed them out and how they look.

BTW I bought the rally stripes from

http://www.autografics.com/pages/camos4.htm

good prices and a good selection of shapes and colors

I have the 35th stripes on my 2000 SS. They are said to last 5 to 7 years.

Here are some pics. These took a while to finish because I messed up the trunk stripes on my first attempt. =\

it shouldn't hurt them................I mean, you're not buffing with sandpaper, right?! I don't think buffing with a soft cloth would catch the stripes and peel them up?

There are pics in my sig of my white camaro with black stripes. I've had these stripes on the car for 1.5 years now and I had stripes on my last car for almost 4 years. I haven't had any problems at all with them. My car is daily driven and parked outside (no garage...). As long as you take care of them you're fine. Just be sure to wax them and to clean off bird crap and tree sap quickly. Both of those will strip off the wax and discolor vinyl. It's bad to keep those on normal paint as well.

They're pretty easy to line up, but not easy to install. You have to have something like a spackle brush or squeegee to get the bubbles out. You use a mixture of water and dish soap to keep it lubricated while you position the stripes, scrape the excess out when you have them where you want them and leave them be in the sun for a couple of hours. It took about 2 hours to get them tacky on my car and it took a couple of days for them to set. It takes a week or two depending on weather for them to fully cure.
