I'm going to put a Harwood Aero scoop onto my 81 T/As shaker hood, but I'm not sure what height to get. I've seen this car on the net and this exactly what I want mine to look like;

What size do ya'll think that is? I'm not really good at 'guestimating', so I figured I'd ask if anyone here was any good at it! If I could figure out about how high it is I could find exactly which one it is by simply measuring the shakers hole in the hood. Anyone?

 

Looks like 3"-4".

 

I'd say 6" or 7".

 

I think it's a little taller, I've seen an aftermarket 4" cowl hood and compared it and this one is a bit taller.

Yea, I was thinking around 7" as well. I had the measurements of the Shaker hoods hole and there was one that would fit over the hole just right and was 7" high. I may just end up buying that one and fitting it while it's still in the plastic wrapping. If it doesn't look right, I'll just send it back to Summit and try another one.

 

This hood is a 3in and looks pretty big http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/9397camarosscus.jpg but the one you posted looks a little bigger, ill change my guess to a 5"

 

It should be around 4" maybe 5 at the most, I had a '69 chevelle a couple summers ago with a 4" hardwood cowl hood and that thing impared my vision on making right turns and I am 6'2".

 

lol, yea I hear ya. If it was my daily I'd just stick the shaker back under there. But since I can drive it just for fun I guess I'll go a little crazy!
