Get a 6 pack...

'Cause it could take a while. All that is totally necessary is a spring compressor and basic sockets and ratchet. There are no real hints I could give you, but it wouldnt kill you to pick up a haynes manual. Look on brents page for some links. I know there's one thats pretty helpful, because I used it for guidance. Also try posting this in tech, much more help over there.

Take out the whole front spring/shock/a-arm assembly. It makes it much easier to work with and be safe with the spring. Just compress the spring and unbolt the shock mount then pull it off. Take it the spring/shock/a-arm assembly to a shop if you feel unsafe with compressing it.

You could buy one at napa or rent one at a place that rents tools.

are you going to get a relocation bracket and bump steer after your drop?

the relocation bracket is to correct the LCA angle after you lower the car. When I lowered my car w/o the relocation bracket, the car did have a hard time hooking b/c the LCA were at a wrong angle and was lifting the tire off the ground rather than planting them. The bump steer is to correct the front tie rod angle. It's not necessary but it will make your car drive way better than if you don't. I've had experience in both of these situations because I've had my car lowered for a long time before I did the relocation bracket and bump steer and it's a night and day difference to me.
