How do i remove gauge cluster for new gauge face?
I got a new bezel and white face overlay for my 95'Z. How do i go about removing the guages? I glanced at the dash and i don't see where it unscrews. I've takent he panal below the steering column off before and the panal around the radio. Do i have to remove all this to get to the screws holding the gauges in?
Re: How do i remove gauge cluster for new gauge face?
there is more involved than you think (I havn't done it in over a year, but I will try to remember what I did). You need to take off the panel under the steering wheel. take off the driver and passenger A-pillar panels. Now the hard part is getting the plastic panel off that is above the guages, the one with the 2 small air vents in it. It has screw under the top dash piece (big dash board under the windshield) I broke my dash board trying to get those screw out. I reccomend lifting your dash board up (it is held down with about 7 square velcro pieces) this will allow you to easily unscrew the plastic panel above the guages wheel(the one with the vents). Once you get that off, unscrew the plastic shield over the guages. Then, draw a diagram of where all the needles are. I messed this up, and it took a while to figure out where everything is supose to be. Take the needles off, and peel off the old overlay. Stick the new one on, and put everything back together. I left the screws out of that panel above my steering wheel, just incase I ever wanted to change guage overlays again. It probably caused some squeeks, but I dont really notice them.
