How to "black out" the back lights?

I tried that VHT stuff once and i dont know what i screwed up but it just looked reall really bad and i had to buy a new light housing.

I want to get the lights and that middle piece painted/tinted the same color.

Any write up on how to do this?
BTW i did search and went through the first 5 pages LOL

Did you clear coat and polish the vht you applied? After three coats of VHT, I applied three coats of clear. The lights were still fairly dull. I waited a day and then used a polishing compound on them. Here is my results.

You might be able to tint them with window tint. Make sure you use a heat gun so you wrap the film to avoid wrinkles. Just avoid scorching your hand. I tried this one time, but I only had a hair dryer and it didn't let me stretch the wrinkles out.

No, no clear coat last time. I did it when i was first getting into cars. I think i might have contaminated it with the cleaner i used because it looked almost like oil ontop of water.

Can they be polished by hand?

do not wet sand the tail lights with 100 grit. that is a horrible horrible typo. that will ruin your tail lights used 1000 grit to wet sand and no less than 1000!
