hoods: rate them and show them please

it's been done before, but lets get a list going of the hoods available. I'm tired of buying hoods that have ****ty fit and finish. please include you type of hood, manufacturer, fitment, finish, and picture if possible. i guess we can rate the fit and finish 1-10, 10 being best. I'm in the market for a 93-97 ss hood, so i'm looking for a good one thats not 700 bucks

I have the harwood ram-air hood, fit and finish id give it about an 8, but i think my car has aftermarket front fenders and they arc up too high... i got one side aligned perfectly but it was the fender that took the massaging, and i havent gotten around to the other side. But I'll also agree with the guy above on teh harwoods being lightweight, had to use a tarp and tie it down to keep it from flying out of the back of the pickup on the way back from the shop, it would lift up at about 45mph =/.

I have a suncoast hood. Fit is an 8. There may be a slight space but its hardly noticeable really. I like it.

good to hear about harwood hoods....i've done a few on mustangs and they didn't fit for crap. had to have someone cut into the fiberglass on the one and reshape the ends. it was a total junk fit.

If you're tired of buying crappy hoods why not just save a bit more money and buy an SLP SS hood. You know its gonna fit perfect.

Glad to hear the good news on the Harwood hoods. I just bought a Harwood cowl hood and it's getting installed at my buddy's body shop on the 20th. Do you need special hinges because of the light weight or do the stock work fine?? I'll post some pic's as soon as I get it back.

funny you mentioned that, my grandfather is a paint/body man and was on me for awhile for getting a harwood because he had so much trouble everytime he got his hands on one for mustangs maybe harwood just got a bad mold for them *shrug*

Lex, you dont need special hinges, but it is recomended that you get shocks that are valved to put out less pressure on the hood to prevent it from stressing it as much. and IIRC SLP makes these at $75.. though i dont remember if that price was per set or each. i opted to just use a hood prop for awhile
