Post Hood and wing is painted, ? inside

Finally got my cowl hood and wing painted. I picked it up only to find that there is what looks like orange peel on both of them. I already gave 200 for the paint and clear coat so I'm not giving him any more to fix it. Is there anything I can do to get ride of it?? Someone mentioned wet sanding, but I don't want to take the chance of messing it up bigtime. Any other ways you guys would know about??

You need to have him fix it to your satisfaction. It is a given that you will not pay him anything else above what he quoted in the first place. Good luck.

Okay.....I took a chance and wet sanded the whole hood w/ 1500 paper. I got all the orange peel out and it's very nice and smooth, but now the hood looks like it's 10 years old. It looks like it has never been waxed and has swirl marks all over it. I tried to put a little wax on one part, but it really didn't help any. Any recommendations?? And like I said, I am NOT having the guy repaint it, if he couldn't get it done right the first time, he sure as H is not going to be able to do it right now.

Right now you just need to get it buffed out and you'll be in business!!

I tried that, Rob. Well....I used some type of polish that a paint shop recommended and a friends buffer and it really didn't make any difference. Then I put the wax on another section and that didn't help either. I am at a loss here. Is there something I should use other than a polish, any recommendations??

Who painted it for you? $200 would be damn good deal if it was done right, but it sounds like you are not too happy. I don't see why you can't go back to the man and tell him that the paint was not done correctly.

You need to take to a professional and have it buffed. They have buffers at a higher rpm than what you can get in the store. I've had the same sort of situation with one of my other cars and had it buffed professionally. Trust me, makes a difference when you got higher rpm's working for you. Might cost you $35-? Better than having it repainted. Just my .02
