So i have been looking around to see if there are any hood scoop/ vent kits that will make the stock ones on my 1996 z28 functional. haven't had any luck thus far... anybody wanna help a brother let his car breathe? lol let me know if you have found any or have any good ideas to make 'em functional!

 

Functional hood scoops it that area will not help the engine breathe. You'll need to install a cold air intake.

I guess you could open them to let heat out maybe.

 

There are a few guys that have hogged out the fake vents in the hood. As Calaban stated, it won't do squat for engine breathing, unless of course you want to make some complicated ductwork. It may, however, have a small effect on underhood temps by allowing heat to escape. Do a search on here, because I know someone had a thread on this a while back.

 

With all the fabrication of ducting, the twists and bends, you'd see a bigger gain by going with a standard CAI. If you really wanted a functional hood scoop that bad you could get a SS hood and air box but you are talking about $$$ and I honestly believe that a CAI will give you as much if not more HP. A Moroso or K&N cold air intake are around $200 or $250 I believe.

I personally have a CAI but I'm looking to install the LS1 type lid setup in the near future.
