Hood Insulation Pad

Hey guys and gals...I am in the process of working on my 95 Trans Am. She was sort of a dog before, but she's coming along. My insulation pad is a mess though, and while I have looked all over the net for a new one, nothing has as of yet turned up. Does anyone know where I can get a new one? Possibly even a customized one? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't need one. I have an aftermarket Hood on My Z28. Plus everywhere I go and see, no one has them neither.

x2- Just pull it out and enjoy the clean look you will have with it not there. If anything you will notice MAYBE slightly louder engine noise but most of us enjoy that anyway...

Unless you are trying to do a complete restoration almost everyone I have seen pulls them out. They are impossible to keep clean and pointless to replace IMO..

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah, I had thought about just getting rid of it. My only concern was if there would be any heat related damage to my hood without it. Sounds like that won't be a problem though.

Only slight chance would be if your car was black and you lived in Arizona or something...but shouldn't be an issue either way-

I forgot I even had one on my stock hood. But I threw my stocker like 4 years ago.

yeah i don't have a hood liner on my T/A's WS6 hood. The old non WS6 hood had one though. Maybe the WS6/SS hoods don't have one since they won't heat up as much since they're not metal. I don't know if that hood insulator is needed for metal hoods though.

Those of you who removed the pad should show us what the underside of the hood looks like without it.

I'd imagine there would be unsightly holes.
