Hood Experts - Is the 91-92 z28 the Exact Same as the Iroc Hood? (Pictures Inside)
Ok, someone mentioned that the hoods are the same but I am not too sure about that. I have a 92 z28 with the blisters. On the Iroc hoods I noticed that there is a little ridge coming up on near the bottom of front where you insert the louver. I don't see this ridge on my hood.
First image is of the iroc hood notice the ridge (unless its a lightening thing lol):

second shot is of my z28 hood getting repainted. I don't see the same ridge and I don't recall there being a ridge:

Can anyone with an iroc confirm that there is a ridge?

ridge...

Plus I went out and looked... there is a ridge for sure. More pronounced towards the front, fades away towards the windshield. Notice the sun shining on the drivers side louver. It makes the ridge appear clearly. It looks like your hood has the same ridge. It does not go all the way around. Just on the sides towards the front of the car. I am not sure but it looks like you have them too. Notice the sanding marks on your hood. They look brighter on the edges meaning it was raised and got sanded more.

I agree with jrhaus76 about the ridge and the sanding marks which is a great indicator of high and low areas. In your case it may be a little difficult to see the ridges because of the flat color of the primer which do not reflect light much. Once your hood is painted and clear coated, you will see a definite contour. In another case, I do not know if your hood was sanded down in the past. If so, it may be the case where they may have sanded some of the metal off the ridge so it is not pronounced as much.
