I have them on my cars (naturally). When I go to the quarter car wash to wash my cars, I blast the water over the SmoothLock area to see if the water pressure makes them come off under normal washing circumstances. You know...a longevity test. So far so good.

In other words, you don't have to worry about them coming off easily in the car wash, in the rain, at high speeds, etc.

I am sure that if you TRY to make them come off with heavy water pressure they will, but you'd really have to give a good effort at it.

Your choice, it really depends on the paint used and how much effort you want to put into it. Personally, I would clearcoat it as well, just for good measure.

Your car is silver, right? Don't forget that these only cover the flat face of the lock. Consider painted the angled "ring" of the lock to match. It is not a necessity but really adds to the effect!
