help with paint

For graduation, my parents are getting me paint and supplies so my dad and I can paint my car. I need some opinions on a paint scheme and colors. I am probably going to put a 3 or 4 in cowl hood on it and the WW GFX front piece before paint. My idea was to keep it close to the same color with a little metallic in it and run 2 silver stripes down it. Then I was going to go with silver badges, black berger panel and vht tail lights. Also some camaro letter inserts.

The paint looks good on it. Why not get the wheels you want instead of paint? The cost will be similar. A good quality 2 stage paint and supplys will cost what the wheels whith goos tires will cost. Dont believe me? Check out my paint thread in the paint care section. Thats almost 900 bucks worth.

Its hard to tell from the pictures that the paint is bad. The clear coat is coming off really bad. There is a spot in the front thats chipped and spiderwebbing from the previous owner and also he tried to color match a bad spot and messed it up worse so it needs paint pretty bad.

Blue with silver stripes would look good. You could always consider using silver decals instead as well, afterall paint is permenent and if you ever get tired of the silver stripes..

when you say decals are you talking about the z28 badges and letter inserts? also do you think it would be okay with a black berger panel?

I was referring to a stripe package in decal form such as what is offered here: http://www.3rdgendecals.com/

Getting a different hood is the best decision you could have made.

yes I hate my hood but unfortunately they aren't cheap. for me atleast. I think im going to replace my front clip too because its cracked underneath the car and its not lining up very well. What are the pros and cons of the decal kit and would I be able to put it on myself?

Pros: It's cheaper than painting...usually. If you don't like it, it's much easier to change your mind with vinyl vs. paint.

Cons: If you change your mind too late, the paint under the vinyl will be darker than the faded paint around it. Vinyl has a shorter lifespan than paint, no matter how you take care of it.

yea. well I just looked at some of the cars on there and I think I just changed my mind about paint. I think im going black with silver stripes instead. It looks really bad *** in my opion. then I could VHT my tails and turns and put some smoked headlight covers on.

Coming from a person who had a black camaro, good luck keeping it clean and free from swirl marks. Don't get me wrong, it looks mean as hell when it is clean, but plan on thoroughly washing, drying, and using some kind of polish or wax every time you clean it. This is why I painted mine yellow. Even when it's dirty- it still looks decent. Have you thought about a gun metal paint with black stripes or silver paint with black stripes. These would have been my alternate picks next to the yellow paint I chose. I think gun metal with black stripes and black wheels would look stellar. Make sure you really think it over before you buy your paint.

I'll put a side view pic up when I get home from school. Can you put up a pic of NMB.

As for keeping it clean, I dont have a problem with washing it frequently. I live in georgia so the weather is usually always good for it. Im pretty **** about keeping my car clean anyways.
