Help with HID lights - clean bulb prior install?
Help with HID lights - clean bulb prior install?
(putting these on my 04 Cummins, but no one on that forum had any idea
if no knows, no problem, but at least gimme idea how i should clean them prior)
i got some used HID lights,
just got the ballast, 2 wires, and bulbs for each side.
the lead for power has 2 small (bayonet) male terminals (size of toothpick for both ground and hot)
the other wire goes to lite bulb base from the ballast.
how would i hooking the bayonet terminals up to the OEM plug?
how should i clean the bulbs? i was gonna use rubbing alcohol and cotton ball, and clean bulbs thoroughly, let dry.
any recommendations for mounting the ballast? these have velcro on the back. is that for vibration isolation, or mounting? i'm a big Tie Wrap fan.
should i wrap the ballast in ____ (fill in the blank) or will that affect heat dissipation?

Re: Help with HID lights - clean bulb prior install?
1. It should come with a plastic connector you can plug the bayonet terminals into, which will in turn plug into where your old bulbs went.
2. As long as you haven't physically touched the bulbs, they should be fine out of the box.
3. Ballasts can go anywhere and I used foam tape. I wouldn't worry about water too much if you have a decent brand. My ballasts survived being drenched when I had my engine bay cleaned and they still work fine.
