Hella FF75 driving lights

I want to upgrade the ridiculous stock headlights. I know these hella lights run around $100.....do I just get two pairs, 1 for high beams 1 for low beams? or are they two different part numbers? do they mount in stock location? how hard is installation?
thanks, I appreciate your help
Matt

nice price I paid $60/pr on ebay 2 years ago.

I got 2 sets to replace the upper lights and a set of ff50 to replace the fog lights.

finished job looks pretty stock

I did the headlight mod so I can have all 6 on at the same time - all i can say is that it was the best $200 I ever spent on the car!

That looks very nice.....how hard was it to mount them? I don't have any fabrication skills.....
Also, are these street legal? I don't want to get a ticket.

BPS-Thanks for posting that pic, i've been trying to decide if i wanted to do that or not. I wasn't sure how they would look. Yours look very good.

If you don't mind i'd also like to know what has to be done to get them to fit. Also did you have to upgrade the wiring?

thanks
derick

Anyone know if you need a wire upgrade for these lights. Or any modifications to the lights or area where the new hellas go.

Ya you must remove your stock headlights along with buckets adjusters etc. Then you have to drill 4 holes to mount the new lights.

Wireing is all included in the Hella package, just use your stock harness to turn on the hella relay and you will be OK

You can check out some closeups of the gutted headlight area and lights mounted here. http://community.webshots.com/user/95red1

Looking at your pictures, it looks like you simply drilled one large hole per light and used a bolt with one nut for a spacer and one nut to hold the light up. Is that correct? Seems like a really simple install. Did you have to splice any of the wires from your stock harness?

BTW, how much of an improvement over stock lighting are these? If you could put a number on it, I mean...

That's about it for the install.

I pulled my car up next to my garage door and turned on my lights and marked the centers on the door with a pencil.
I did not move the car while I installed the lights so that I could reaim them using the marks on the door.

The new lights helped a bit..I liked them.
The biggest difference in the lights came from the bulbs..I tried some bright Blueish bulbs but the sotck bulbs that came with the Hellas were better, even though they were not a whiter light.

The best lighting seems to come from a 4500k bulb..my Hyper whites were a 5200k and they sucked.

check out the thread here for a little more info on that.

The wireing comes with the kit..It has a relay with 4 wires, one to Battery to supply new lights, one to a ground, one to the new lights, the last one tels the relay to turn on...that's the one you need to splice into your stock light harness..real easy!

You guys that are wondering should go here and look for the "Hella FF75" page. That page has a plethora of information.

Look Silver97Z in that page - he did an install guide.
A few of the board members that have done this conversion are pu12en12g, xxsaint69x, 94BlackBowtie, Silver97Z, BPS, and Red1.

I suggest that you use the Hella wiring and splice it into your stock wiring harness (1 wire - the power in). That way if you want to upgrade to higher wattage bulbs you got a little better wiring to do it with.

But I'm telling you - that website link above has a ton of info on this, try it out.
