Hella FF75 Conversion anyone?
Hella FF75 Conversion anyone?
It seems that most of the information I'm receiving about the FF75 conversion on the 93-97 camaros comes from this site, so I figured I would go straight to the source and see if i can't get the information i'm looking for more effectively
Two questions about the conversion that run hand-in-hand..
1. What would be the best configuration of the lights? I mean, there are two styles of the FF75s, driving and fog. Would I be best to use the fog style as the low beam because fog lights generally have a more precise cutoff, and the driving lights as a high beam because they are less focused?
2. I would really like to get a picture of the beam pattern of the FF75 fog lights. At this point I'm trying to decide between doing an HID conversion in stock housings or going to the FF75. If there isn't much difference in the beam pattern, I don't feel the justification in buying new housings on top of the HID conversion setup.
If anyone has a picture of their FF75 fog lights shining on a wall or something, I would love it if you could send it my way!
TIA!

I did a Hella FF75 headlight conversion on my old 94. I used the same lights for highs and lows. I would occasionally get honked at or something because they were very bright, and didn't have a real "cutoff". They looked good, really lit up the road, but i'm not sure how practical they were. Also, it took some time to get them wired up and secured.
This is a little link I made showing how I reinforced the lights in the housing.

This is what my car looked like with the Hella's.

Thanks for the reply!
You say there wasn't much of a cutoff with the FF75s you used. Do you remember if those were the FF75 fog lights or FF75 driving lights? Do you by chance have a picture of the beam pattern or the on road lighting from the car?

From those pics, it looks like the fog lights have a decent cutoff, but it's hard to compare to the driving lights since they are aimed so drastically differently. That does help me get a better idea of the pattern, but i would still love a picture of the beam pattern on a wall or something.
I thought the FF75's where a big improvement over the stockers but in my opinion they where kind of a waste of time and hard to adjust. I ditched them in place of the Hella 90mm's and they're just amazing.
The FF75s you had, were they driving lights or fog lights? Would you happen to have a pic of the beam pattern?
I don't have any pictures of the beam patterns. I had the driving lights in place of my head lights and FF75 fogs in place of my factory fogs. In my opinion the FF75 driving lights need a GOOD set of fog lights to work with them. The driving lights are just like spot lights. The beam pattern is very concentrated and goes out for a long distance. The fog lights have a very wide horizontal pattern so they light up the ditches well but the light only goes out in front of your car about 10 ft. They would not work as a headlight in my opinion.
I love the look of the 90mm's, they just look so aggressive and have the correct beam pattern. I'm currently running FF75 driving lights in the stock fog light location as my 90mm's put out so much light that they covered up the FF75 fog lights and I couldn't even tell they were on. Here is a pic of the 90's.

I will say, that looks better than I would've expected, but I'm partial to the stock look of the headlights, or near stock look of the FF75s.
Those Hella 90mm are projectors, correct? Where did you get them? I think I'm going to put those in for my foglights with an HID kit and call it good.

That is where I got the lights. The site has a lot of info and I believe even has your beam pattern of the FF75's.
