Anyone know where I can find one of these aftermarket units?

you would have to have some sort of digital speedo hooked up so that it could project the "heads up display"
im not sure ow it can be done, but you'll have to obtain and hook up the digital from your speedo to get the speed that your going...

Maybe you can get a used unit from a Corvette, Cadillac, or a Grand Prix, and somehow magically hook it up? I've never seen aftermarket HUDs, though I am sure some place sells it.

Do a search on Google for "Defi HUD" you will find a unit called VSDII. That's the only one that I could find that reads out american units. I've been researching these for about a year now and that's the only one that will work.

The Corvette/Caddi/GP ones are too deep to adapt to out dash. Trust me I've looked over all the options, unless that is you feel like cutting into your firewall, Not me personally.

i dont think the conversions from the other GM cars would work either because i think for at least the bonnivlle there was something on the windshield to reflect it back. i could be wrong but i thought it had a little squar on the windshield. it was clear and barley noticible. but i think the factory units dont use those or would include them.

nop, there's nothing reflective on the windshield. I had an aztek for a while with the display on the windshield and there was nothing to reflect it.

What you are thinking of is built into the film that is sandwhiched in the windshield glass. It's a film that makes the projection reflect better on the windshield. You can see it well without the film, but the Defi unit comes with a 2 x 3 approx piece of similar film for you to apply, but I guess it's still visible without the film.

There is an install guide for a HUD on Brent's website...have you checked that out yet?
